Veteran Services Continue to Reach More Veterans Across New England

During the first six months of 2026, Veteran Pathways of New England served 1,081 unique Veterans, an increase from 814 during the same period in 2025 and 600 in 2024. Over just two years, the number of Veterans served has grown by more than 80%, reflecting both expanding awareness of our programs and increasing demand for Veteran services among Veterans and their families.

The growth extends beyond the number of Veterans served. New Veteran intakes increased from 108 in 2024 to 562 in 2026, demonstrating that more Veterans are seeking assistance than ever before. Service deliveries also continued to rise, growing from 12,502 in 2024 to 14,630 in 2026.

These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent Veterans finding hope, support, and resources when they need them most.

More Veterans Are Reaching Out for Support

The continued growth of our Veteran support programs tells an important story. Veterans are finding Veteran Pathways because they need help navigating challenges such as housing concerns, financial stress, social isolation, wellness needs, and community connections.

As demand has increased, our team has worked diligently to ensure every Veteran receives timely, personalized support that connects them with the resources they need.

Who We Are Serving

The Veteran population we serve is diverse and spans generations.

During the first half of 2026:

Vietnam era Veterans represented our largest service group, with 330 Veterans served.

More than 211 Gulf War Veterans and 113 Iraq era Veterans received support.

Veterans aged 60 to 79 accounted for nearly 40% of those served, while younger Veterans aged 20 to 39 represented one of our fastest-growing populations.

We are also reaching Veterans across New England, with particularly strong growth in Middlesex, Worcester, Essex, Norfolk, Plymouth, and Hillsborough (NH) counties. This continued growth demonstrates that the need for Veteran services extends well beyond any single community. As more Veterans seek support throughout the region, Veteran Pathways of New England remains committed to providing compassionate, personalized assistance wherever the need exists.

Growth Creates Opportunity and Challenge

While we are proud of this growth, it also highlights an important reality. Demand for Veteran services is increasing faster than many funding sources.

Every new Veteran who contacts Veteran Pathways requires staff time, assessment, care coordination, referrals, follow-up, and ongoing support. As intake volume has increased more than fivefold since 2024, the resources required to maintain high-quality services have risen accordingly.

Many of the services Veterans rely on most are either partially funded or receive little to no dedicated funding. Flexible donor support allows Veteran Pathways to:

• Respond quickly when Veterans face urgent needs.
• Expand outreach to underserved communities.
• Invest in staff and volunteer capacity.
• Strengthen wellness, peer support, and community programming.
• Ensure that Veterans continue to receive individualized support without long wait times.
