Emotional Support Dogs For Veterans

The Veteran Pathways of New England (formerly Clear Path for Veterans New England) Emotional Support Dog Program helps Veterans improve emotional well-being, reduce isolation, and strengthen daily stability through the companionship and connection of specially selected dogs. Emotional Support Dogs provide comfort, routine, and encouragement for Veterans navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, and adjustment after service.

Unlike Service Dogs, Emotional Support Dogs are not trained to perform specific disability-related tasks or to provide public access. Instead, these dogs provide consistent companionship and emotional connection that can help Veterans feel calmer, more engaged, and better supported in everyday life. Through participation in the program, Veterans may also develop valuable skills such as communication, responsibility, confidence, and social connection.

Veteran Pathways of New England recognizes the important role the human-animal bond can play in healing and resiliency. Through canine-assisted programming, Veterans are encouraged to reconnect with their communities, build supportive relationships, and experience the positive impact dogs can have on emotional wellness and overall quality of life.
